A mark of highly selective partnership research

The instituts Carnot are organisations which place partnership research (for the benefit of business and local authorities) at the heart of their strategy. They are recognised for both:

  • their high scientific level

  • their professionalism and their commitment to developing quality partnership research

The institutes are accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research for a period of five years, which is renewable after tenders for selective application.

Each institut Carnot has strong commitments to develop its R&D activities with respect to business. In return, it receives financial support from the ANR (National Research Agency) to support it in performing its activities.

The ParisTech Grandes Écoles have a strong presence in the governance of the instituts Carnot association, AiCarno, responsible for leading the network. These organisations support companies in becoming more competitive and conquering new market shares. It promotes their affiliation to the laboratories' R&D skills. Indeed, these are able to support them in their efforts to provide innovative products and services.
